What is the difference with Profhilo and dermal filler?

There is always a confusion between the difference of Profhilo and dermal fillers, this is because they are both made up of hyaluronic acid. Dermal filers are used to plump or add volume to an area, whereas Profhilo doesn’t plump or volumise an area, instead, it restores and naturally stimulates your elastin and collagen production. As we age our collagen and elastin production stops, the only way it begins to reproduce is from trauma or the help of Profhilo. From the age of 25+ our skin is classed as ageing skin as the collagen production rate slows down, this is when ageing takes place and lines and wrinkles begin to form on our faces. Profhilo acts more as a hydrator and skin moisturiser with the little help of stimulation.

Profhilo is a unique skin modelling treatment, it works on reversing the signs of ageing at a cellular level. It takes around 3-4 weeks for the stimulation of collagen and elastin repair to take place, and therefore to see results. On average most clients have to have two treatments for the best results. Is Profhilo painful?

Profhilo treatment may feel slightly uncomfortable, if you have had other treatments before such as dermal fillers then it is quite similar to that. We always apply anaesthetic numbing cream before all out treatments to ensure our clients have the most pleasurable experience possible. The injections points are placed just under the surface of the skin so don’t hurt as much as other aesthetic treatments that go deeper into the face. You may experience a stinging sensation as the Profhilo is injected, but this shortly passes. Profhilo is great as it has minimal downtime, minimal swelling and minor or no bruising. It is a treatment no one will ever know you’ve had, but will look, and think how great you look!

How long does Profhilo Last?

The longevity of Profhilo varies from person to person as all aesthetic treatments do. Results for Profhilo are known to be long lasting and will only need top-ups as it begins to break down/fade. With all aesthetic treatments this is to be expected as they are all semi-permanent but keeping them topped up will make them obtain the best results permanently. On average a Profhilo top-up booster will be required anywhere from six to nine months after your treatment.
